Hello there! Welcome to All My Fictional Children!
My name is Sam, and I love books. I love books so much that I refer to my favorite characters as my precious children. Okay, not really, but I do love books. (Possibly an unhealthily amount, but that’s yet to be seen.)
This website will hold all my book reviews, book thoughts, writing thoughts, and pretty much anything book-related. I find that I have so much more to say about books than in a tweet/tweet thread or in an Instagram caption, though I would NEVER abandon my twitter or insta. I just need somewhere to fully articulate my thoughts on books, diversity in books, and the overall feeling they give me.
Some background on me: I was never a big reader. It’s not like I didn’t love books; on the contrary, I’ve always loved books, but I’ve always been a slow reader. I often found not being able to read books as fast as my friends and classmates truly frustrating.
Then came Harry Potter. Okay, that’s a lie. I loved Harry Potter, but I didn’t read any other books besides them. Then came Twilight– also a lie. Once again, loved the books, but didn’t read anything else.
Then came The Hunger Games. I devoured these books over my winter break, senior year of high school. I can honestly say that these books brought back my love for reading. Soon, I dove into the hole of YA fiction, and now, six years later, I find myself fully immersed in the YA fiction world.
YA isn’t perfect, but it was there for me when I needed it the most. It gave me a new world to escape to, new friends (albeit, many of them fictional), and a new outlook on my life. And I hope that my posts on here can further elaborate and articulate these thoughts and feelings.
